New Rentals for Backcountry and Touring
Event Report: Catamount Get Out and Backcountry Festival
Upcoming Events: B2B and Trapps to Bolton Race
Snow! Snow! Snow! After one horrible day of rain early in the week that put fear and sadness in the faces of so many Nordic staff and regulars, we have been getting constant snow showers all week. The rain event is long forgotten now, with over 12 inches of new snow in the last 3 days making conditions great for all types of skiing. The forecast calls for more snow and cool temps so February is looking great. For photographic evidence of our new snow take a look at the Nordic Blog.
Evening and Full Moon Adventures
Next full moon is this Saturday, January 30th!
Enjoy the light of the full moon, as we play in Bolton's fresh powder on
snowshoes! Evening Snowshoe Adventures are professionally guided two-hour
tours, designed for beginner to intermediate snowshoers. Price of this tour
includes ticket, snowshoes and guided tour. Call (802) 434-6876 or visit out website for more
information. Reservations required. Tour dates are every full
moon, 5-7pm. Tours are $35 per person.
Nordic Shop
Did you know that the Nordic Center has lots of new stuff for sale? We have been adding tons of great items to the display case this year so take a look next time you are visiting. A few of the staff favorites include:
- Bolton Valley tote bags, travel mugs, ceramic mugs and stainless steel water bottles
- The latest and greatest hats and gloves from Swix.
- Max Wax, all condition base care for waxless skis and backcountry skis.
(Don't forget that Season Pass holders get 20% off retail items!)
New Rental Equipment
We
are very excited to introduce 2 new ski models to our Nordic rental
fleet this year. The Rossignol Evo Trail is our new all-purpose ski
that is short and lightweight making it very maneuverable. It glides
beautifully in tracks and floats great in untracked powder. The
Rossignol BC70 is our new backcountry ski that we have paired with new
Rossignol BC X9 boots. This ski has full metal edges, a wider, more
stable platform, and coupled with the NNNBC boots and bindings provides
great control for exploring all of the amazing backcountry trails that
Bolton has to offer.
Event Report
The Catamount Trail Association hosted its 2nd Annual Get Out and Backcountry Ski Festival at Bolton Valley Nordic Center Sunday January 24th. Sixty-six enthusiastic skiers from throughout New England experienced a perfect day of backcountry skiing on some of the best terrain in Vermont. It was great to see so many people enjoying the great weather and snow conditions while learning the skills needed to get the most out of backcountry skiing.
