Facebook Poets and Ski Sales
Greetings faithful newsletter fans. As those of you who follow the newsletter closely know, a few common themes run through this newsletter. In addition to the celebration of little known holidays, reverences to Viking hippies and the occasional foray into what you can get for free if you bring a live bear to the resort, we occasionally have useful information. That information tends to trend toward special deals and events like rail jams. In celebration of the weekend after which it is no longer appropriate to wear white, we are going to be offering both to you in this newsletter.
Vermont's Largest Ski and Snowboard Sale
I know several people who spend countless hours on-line and driving around to yard sales to track down the absolute best deals on ski and snowboard gear for the upcoming season. When you total up the time they spend, the gas they use and the volumes of coffee they drink it hardly seems worth the $50 they may save at the end of the search. In an effort to restore some sort of balance to these people’s lives, we are offering them one stop shopping at "Vermont’s Largest Ski and Snowboard Sale". We'll hold the sale at the Sports Center over Labor Day weekend, September 4-7. There will be skis and boards starting at $99 and kids snowboards starting at $59. The sale will include equipment and apparel from name brands such as Volkl, K2, Dynastar, Atomic, Elan, Nordica, Burton, Forum, Oxygen and more. As an added bonus, 2009-10 Bolton Valley Season Pass holders will get an extra 5% off of their purchases. If you don't already have a 2009-10 season pass we can sell you one at the sale. Hours and more details are online. The deals are here and you don't even have to bring a wild animal with you to get them.
Rail Jam
Every holiday comes with it's own special traditions; on New Year's Eve you watch fireworks, on St. Patrick's day you wear green, on Labor day you either participate in or watch a rail jam, on Memorial day you go to a Bar-B-Que. Keeping with tradition we are hosting the Labor Day Weekend Rail Jam on Friday, September 4th. We will be setting up a rail or two next to the Sports Center and allowing skiers and riders to have at it for an hour or so. When I asked where we were going to get snow to pull this off, the ops guys just told me to go back to my Facebook page and not worry about how that was going to happen. So I did, and I trust they will get some snow laid down for the jam. If you'd like to participate or get more details check them out here.
Facebook
Speaking of Facebook, I do spend an inordinate amount of time tweaking my personal profile and creating an online image of myself that is far more charming and humorous than my real life persona. It got so bad that I was spending most of my day at work on the site and my boss was starting to ask questions. So, in a veiled attempt to justify my time on the site I launched a Facebook page for Bolton Valley. This way, constantly having Facebook up at work is actually work. An added bonus is that I can continue my quest to become the first great Facebook poet through the pen name of Bolton Valley. If you'd like to follow my quest for greatness (and possibly be in the know before everyone else on specials, deals and events at Bolton Valley) you should probably become a fan by checking out our page. Also, next week we'll have a contest on Facebook for a couple of lift tickets and, if your coffee fueled all night website searches for deals are any indication, you like deals, so free lift tickets are probably a welcome bonus.
Well, this got a bit long and if you made it this far I thank you for your patience. Please email me about any grammatical or spelling errors you may have found above or feel free to track me down at the Labor Day sale with a printed out version of the newsletter marked with red ink.
Until next time, stay cool.
Josh
