Parties, Sales and Time Travel

Greetings faithful Bolton Valley newsletter readers. It has been a long time since the last bit of snow melted from our slopes, summer has started and the skis and boards have been put away in favor of hiking boots, kayaks and bikes. Also, the usual author of this newsletter, whom we came to rely on for our weekly dose of topical Bolton Valley news and humor, has moved on for the summer. I believe he is spending most of his time painting houses and taking weekend trips to go Jack Jumping at El Valle Bolton in the southern hemisphere. So for the foreseeable future you are stuck with me and I make no guarantees regarding humor or grammatical correctness.

Ahhhem, onto the summer news. In honor of the date 08/08/09 we are having an 80's party at the James Moore Tavern. It will be held on 08/08/09, at 8:00pm on Saturday evening. I guess we just saw how many 8's there were (two, count 'em two eights in the date) and decided "hey, let's throw an 80's party". We saw the 9 and thought we could go with a 90's party but the 8's had the 9's two to one. Confused yet? You should be. I have no idea what I was trying to say. Anyway, grab your best 80's gear, dust off your head spin and moonwalk and head to the James Moore Tavern on Saturday. We'll feature 80's music and prizes for the best costumes and dance moves. Bonus points if you still drive a car made in the 80's or bring your own boom box for your dance routine.

In the summer, aside from playing copious amounts of golf and trying to get to the swimming holes before everyone else, I like to check out the summer sales to get some good deals. Burton provides an opportunity to do just that this weekend with the Burton Summer Sale. In honor of the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock, they're going with a Summer of Love and hippie theme. (apparently, they did not get the notice that 08/08/09 is in fact "Celebrate the 80's Day", but they're Burton and they do things their own way) In an unprecedented feat of time travel Bolton Valley will be spanning the decades this weekend by not only pulling off the greatest 80's party the Green Mountains have ever seen, but simultaneously living in the 60's at the Burton Summer Sale. Swing by the Bolton tent and purchase your 2009-10 season pass, or just come by and groove with us, man, it'll be far out. (The sale will be held at the Burton Snowboard offices located at 80 Industrial Parkway in Burlington, VT. Hours are 7am-7pm on Friday and Saturday, and 9am-5pm on Sunday)

So channel your inner Marty McFly and live in both the 60's and the 80's this weekend. Remember, only about 103 days until snowmaking begins.
